Botstiber Programs
On June 26, 2009, at the Austrian Embassy in Washington, DC, BIAAS hosted the First Annual Dietrich W. Botstiber Lecture on Austrian-American Affairs, featuring former Austrian Prime Minister Dr. Alfred Gusenbauer, who lectured on “How the Economic Crisis Affects the Relationship between the United States and Europe: The Case of Austria and Central Europe”. The speaker at the Second Annual Botstiber Lecture on Austrian-American Affairs was Eric Frey, Managing Editor of Austria’s Der Standard Newspaper, who lectured on “Right Wing Populism in Austria and the United States—A Comparative View”. The speaker at the Third Annual Botstiber Lecture on Austrian-American Affairs was Othmar Karas, Vice President of the Europeans People’s Party and Austrian delegate to the European Parliament.
